In a shocking case of workplace violence, a 25-year-old woman dentist, Dr Krithika, was brutally assaulted by a senior doctor, Dr Anbu Selvan (38), after she repeatedly refused his marriage proposals in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the Hosur Government Hospital, and a police investigation is underway.
Speaking to ANI from the hospital, Dr Krithika said, “He kept forcing me to marry him even after I said no many times. I never imagined he would turn violent. I want justice for what I went through.”
Krithika had recently joined a private dental clinic in Hosur, located opposite the government hospital. Around 20 days after she started working, the accused—who owns the clinic and also works at another private hospital—allegedly began pressuring her for marriage.
On the day of the assault, Dr Selvan reportedly took her to a secluded area on his two-wheeler, raised the topic again, and became violent after she reiterated her refusal. He later brought her back to his clinic, confiscated her mobile phone and jewellery, and continued to physically assault her.
Colleagues, including doctors and nurses, intervened and rescued Krithika. Her mother rushed to the clinic after being unable to reach her daughter and found her injured.
Following the incident, Krithika was admitted with multiple injuries to her face, neck, arms, and other parts of her body. A formal complaint has been filed at the Adhikaratty Police Station, and investigations have revealed that Dr Selvan is married but separated.
The Hosur Town Police and local authorities are probing the matter, and further legal action is expected based on the findings.
